You recently got a puppy and now the puppy will not stop digging and you want to know how to get your puppy to stop digging. Now one of the reasons that I found why my puppy would dig a lot is the litter size and she had to fight for every last morsel of food. If she was to full she would try to bury it if she was able to. She even did that once I got her home and still from time to time today she will try to bury her food, but not as often. To break her of this habit though I had to basically assure her that she could eat all that she wanted without worry of her food being stolen.

Not knowing better comes from the age of the dog. She outgrew this when she went thru obedience school and was taught good and bad behavior. Once she learned that digging was not an acceptable habit to get into she was actually behaving very well!

Some dogs though might want to dig no matter what you do to them or try to do to them. These types of dogs will require some more hands on obedience training. I did not run into this issue with my dog, but she was fully trained and passed her school with flying colors! I guess you can say she done graduated!
